EXPLORE THE FUTURE

The Event

LC Xanthi is back with a brand new workshop that everyone awaits!!!
So, would you like to learn how to make your life easier?
Are you interested in using Internet οf Τhings in order to create a Smart House?
Well, we have the answer for you!

In our third international workshop that will take place from the 15th to 22th of May, you’ll have the chance to create your own “House of Apps”, a Smart House that will help you save energy and time, something that we lack nowadays. Grab the opportunity to explore and conquer your “White House” without letting devices “conspire” against you.

But what is a Smart House? With the help of the Internet of Things, simple household devices can be accessed digitally. This way they are able to generate, exchange and consume data with minimal human intervention. In this event you will have the opportunity to use the Internet of Things in order to create a Smart House, a house that incorporates advanced automation systems to provide the inhabitants with sophisticated monitoring and control over the building's functions.

Moreover, you will create different applications step-by-step, that will give you the power to control your electronic devices. At the end of our workshop, you will have the opportunity to install your inventions in a graphical house of the Old town of Xanthi! Τhere is no need to be an expert in order to join our event, since we are going to start from scratch! So, is that all?Of course not! There are so much more you can enjoy in Xanthi! Xanthi is one of the most beautiful cities in northern Greece. You will have the chance to wander through the streets of the picturesque Old Town, which offers many exciting options either for a morning coffee or a memorable nightout! Meet new people, make new friends and experience the famous Greek hospitality. Explore the “Path of Life”, a beautiful getaway from the urban city and walk in the forest to see the waterfalls and enjoy magnificent views. It’s not random that Xanthi is called “The city of 1000 colors”.

Furthermore, the sunny weather of May will give you the chance to swim in the beautiful sea of Greece, and spend some time under the sun. Last but not least, while you are in Xanthi, you can taste a lot of local products: wake up with a tasty greek coffee and eat delicious local food while drinking traditional Ouzo, Mastiha & Tsipouro!

Still in doubt? Xanthi is the place to be this May! Prepare your elections campaign and fight your way to the Oval Room of Xanthi’s “House of Apps”

About us

The Organizing Team

Who We Are

The local commitee of Xanthi was founded in 2010 from students in the faculty of Electrical and Computer Engineering in Democritus University of Thrace. Back then our observer was counting only two members. It was with their persistence and efforts, that on the beginnings of 2013 a massive growth of registrations has occurred and now LC Xanthi counts about 65 active members and more than 110 registered members! In the meanwhile, Mr. Georgios Kiriakou, Professor of the Telecommunication and Space Department, took on the responsibility of being in charge of our local commitee.

Our first international workshop , Rock the Bit ,took place in November 2013 with 10 participants from all over Europe, that had excellent feedbacks! In 4 May 2014, our local committee was promoted in LC, as a result of our hard work!Since then , we have organised two international workshops as well as an Exchange in Thassos and a lot of local events!

After all these years we have gained a lot of experience and knowledge and at the moment we are working really hard in order to prepare another amazing workshop base on how we can use the Internet Of things in order to create a Smarthouse! The EESTEC spirit is powerful among us and we guarantee that our event will be an event worth to remember!
